Scream 808 (Ibanez® TS808 Tube Screamer®)

Scream 808, the Helix model of a Ibanez® TS808 Tube Screamer®

The pedal has a characteristic mid-boosted tone popular with blues and rock players. The "legendary" Tube Screamer has been used by countless guitarists to create their signature sound, and is one of the most successful, widely copied, and "modded" overdrive pedals in the history of the electric guitar.

The Tube Screamer has a drive knob, a tone knob, and a level knob. The drive knob adjusts gain, the tone knob adjusts treble and the level knob adjusts the output volume of the pedal. The pedal is used to try to mimic the sound of a vintage tube amplifier. The classic Tube Screamer sound includes a "mid-hump", which means that the circuit accentuates frequencies between the bass and treble ranges (mid-frequencies). Some guitarists prefer this sort of equalization, as it helps to keep their sound from getting lost in the overall mix of the band.

Killer Reverb

Member Goo Fighters of The Gear Page had this cool suggestion, so I tested it on a patch and liked it thru headphones. It's an interesting method of stacking reverbs to get different ambient effects.

Heretick Riffs

My current personal metal riffing sound, based on the Line 6 Fatality. Tight and percussive, but in a thrashy way. No cab modeling, since I use my Pod Go into a power amp into a Vintage 30 equipped cab.

Brothers Osborne - Stay A Little Longer

This patch is inspired by the tone of The Brothers Osborne's "Stay A Little Longer." The preset is based on the Silvertone 1484 (aka Mail Order Twin), a documented feature of the John Osborne live rig. I also recommend trying this out with a Fender DRRI (US Deluxe Nrm), as this is a slightly cleaner take on the tone.

Heavy Metal (Takin' a Ride) by Don Felder

This patch generates the beginning keyboard sound by using three 3-Note Generators, delay, overdrive and chorus as well as the verse delay using a momentary stomp footswitch. There are a couple ways to start the song. Check out the video at the bottom of this page. Here's how I do it.Start the Organ stomp (wait at least 10 seconds for minimum Attack time). You can change the Attack time of each 3-Note Generator for quicker intro.Have the drummer do a four beat count in. On 4, turn off the Organ (the delay will keep it ringing for another beat)Immediately step on the Verse Delay and on 1 of the next bar play the D->E chords and one chug on the open E chord.Release the Verse Delay (it will trail) and keep chugging.Repeat steps 4-5 for each bar.I put a 1-Switch Looper at the end  so you can record the main riff to solo over. If you do use it, I recommend using the Solo Dly for the first D->E so you have time to hit the looper, turn off the Solo Dly (it will trail) then use the Verse Delay for the rest of the rhythm. It uses the same Fulltone OCD and Deluxe Reverb as Felders rig rundown on YouTube. Enjoy.

MM Set HD K2 Dha

This is full set with 4 snapshots: 1. Clean Chorus, 2. Overdrive (bluesy), 3. Mid Gain and 4. High Gain which can cover a lot. Snapshots 2-3 can be used either as rhythm (without delay or/and chorus) and lead tones. All snapshots are aimed to reproduce tube amp, with sufficient tone definition and to cut through the mix. The tone  is made for PAF pickups (7.5 K neck and 11 K bridge), but tested (and sounds good) on high resistance,  "hot" pups as well (Ibanez Quantum).

Dual Overdrives

I use this as a template. Clean amp with two overdrives in front. The first one in the chain with high gain and medium volume, and the second with low gain and high volume. Add-on additional effects as needed.

Dimed Tweed Les Paul

From Joost Assink: I had set myself the goal to master all the parts in the epic final solo of Hotel California in my downtime during this crisis. I found out there are 11 parts!! (6 electric guitars, 2 acoustic guitars, 1 bass part, the organ part and of course programming drums). Well, it took a little longer than expected. I recorded all electric guitars and the bass using line 6 helix into an Apollo X8. I recorded the acoustic guitars with a stereo set of Neumann KM184s and I mixed everything in the new Universal Audio Luna DAW. I used a custom patch based on the tweed amp with a custom IR for all the electric guitars and I use the standard Cali 1 bass preset for the bass guitar. For the solos, I enabled a tube screamer, and for the telecaster parts, I added the script mod phaser pedal. For the reggae rhythm, I enabled the Wah pedal in a fixed position and for the supporting electric guitar lines, I added a little bit of chorus. Here's a free link to the IR used in the Youtube video:

Extra Power Cable for your HX Stomp

I've been using one of these power supplies permanently zip-tied to my pedalboard, and it's been very handy to keep the original power supply around for off-board usage. Plus it's cheap and works well.
