James Valentine - Maroon 5

Upon learning of the guitar rig for James Valentine of Maroon 5, I've put together this little patch. You can learn more about Valentine's rig at the Youtube link, but the core of his sound is:Tele style guitar + stereo clean ampsFor his live rig (covered in the video), he runs Suhr and Matchless amps. However, this patch is based on Divided by 13 9/15, as he mentioned most Maroon 5 recordings were done on such an amp. I recommend playing around with the Matchstick amps for an alternate flavor. A wah pedal is in the second block, but if an expression is not available, I recommend the Autofilter set to Low-Pass with sensitivity around 75% (depends on your guitar's output).

Fender Twin Tone for Boss Katana 50

Use this patch by plugging straight into a Katana 50. Use the acoustic channel on the amp, and keep all Katana settings at noon, and adjust to taste. This patch uses the Fender Twin (normal channel) Helix model for a nice crisp Fender tone thru your Katana. Step on the Teemah! for a nice fat lead tone.

El Hefe - NOFX

I tried to capture the tone from the classic Punk in Drublic album.El Hefe is always pictured with his trusty Telecaster, but I read in an interview that he likes to record with a Les Paul, so that's what I used when creating the patch. Also, Hefe is a Mesa Mark amp user, but I thought the Revv amp sounds really good here.Why is the cab on a footswitch? Because I also play through a powercab, and this makes it easy to set it up.

Placate

This is my main church preset. This uses the Placater Clean and Placater Dirty models to provide four snapshots of clean to hi-gain tone. Two additional snapshots are for swells and ambient tones. The preset uses an IR (OwnHammer 212 VC30 BLU-93 OH1-07) but replace with the default Placater cabinet and should be about the same. Dialed in with a PRS S2 Single Cut (humbuckers) w/ input pad on.

HX Stomp as Input for Helix Native

This utility patch is used for running an HX Stomp into a Mac or PC for using it as an interface to Helix Native. In your DAW, set the input to input 5 on the HX Stomp and run this patch. Turn on monitoring in the DAW, and now you will only hear Helix Native in your headphones or speakers.

Van Halen One

This is a simple patch for achieving a close approximation of the sound on the Van Halen 1 album. Reverb is on the right and more direct signal on the left which is like the album. You can simply move the move the reverb up out of the path 2 back into path 1. I have a video with me going through various songs from the album. In the video I am using my EB MM Axis that is about 20 years old now. The pickups in that guitar are amazing.

Guitar and Mic

This is a cool patch for singers/songwriters. 1. Plug your guitar into the regular L/Mono input2. Plug your mic into the L/Mono Aux-in input (on the right hand side of the HX Stomp) - this adapter will allow you to easily hook a standard XLR mic to the HX Stomp or Helix.There you go - adjust the amp to taste.
